Best Practices to Prepare for a Camping Trip in 2021

Getting Prepared for Camping- The Essentials

In order to make the most of your camping experience, you will need to prepare for it. Here are some things you should bring on your camping trip: a tent, a sleeping bag, water filter/purifier and insect repellent. A pocket knife wouldn’t go astray either! You never know when you'll need it. If you're in a space that allows for campfires, bring whatever fire lighter you prefer - matches, flint, a lighter - but always be prepared to put it out when you're finished, and be safe!

Food and Clothing- What You Need to Bring on Your Camping Trip?

Camping trips are wonderful ways to experience the outdoors and enjoy nature. However, if you do not come prepared, it is easy for things to go wrong.

There are many things that you need to prepare in order to make your camping trip successful - including food and clothing.

If you are going on a weekend or day-long camping trip, there is little cause for concern as long as you can pack some water and food. For multi-day trips or when the weather may be unpredictable, you should arrange ahead of time for additional supplies such as emergency blankets, a compass, matches and lighters. A solid raincoat wouldn’t go amiss either!

Tents and Sleeping Bags - What Kinds Do You Have?

What are the different kinds of tents and sleeping bags?

The Tent- is a shelter that is erected outside with poles and fabric. The typical tent has a "tent fly" which is a waterproof material to protect the tent from rain or snow. They vary in sizes, but most tents are designed to accommodate 2-4 people. A family tent will have room for more people but also be heavier and more expensive. These tents typically range from $150-$300 in cost with some offering more of a luxurious experience for nearly $1,000.

A Sleeping Bag- is not just for keeping you warm while camping out in the summer! A sleeping bag can be used as an alternative to a bed at home when space is limited! ;)

What Does an Ideal Campsite Look Like?

The ideal camping site should have some basic amenities like clean water, toilets, picnic tables, and a fire pit. There should also be more advanced amenities like an interpretive center or amphitheater for events.

Wild Camping

A wild campsite is a place to camp out where the camper has access to natural resources such as water and space. Camping can be done in many different ways depending on the location and the preference of the camper. If you prefer wildcamping over a paid campsite (like us), be sure to prepare everything from sunscreen to insect repellent... it's not as easy without reception around the corner!
