With the world slowly opening up again, and travel increasing as we all get vaccinated, it’s on a lot of our minds, ‘where to go next?'. While some of us like laying by the pool in the sun, there are those of us that love trekking through a forest, hiking up mountains or even strolling through rainy downtown without the sun beating down on you.

If you’ve booked a holiday to somewhere with regular rainfall, then it’s important to pack some rainwear. A stylish raincoat is one option, but if you’re going somewhere really hot, then a waterproof poncho or mac could also work well. So long as it covers your arms and legs it should keep you dry. You can also invest in a small travel umbrella, which is small enough to fit in your suitcase but will offer protection from the elements. We’re big advocates of packing light, so choose your clothes carefully - quick drying clothes are essential!
If you're like us at Ember & Earth, you'll find that some of the best countries to go trekking and hiking in the rain would be:
There are hundreds of destinations to choose from, but these are our favourites!
When packing for travel to a country that will experience heavy rainfall, here are a few essentials to pack that will ensure you are prepared for the worst:
- A rain jacket or raincoat, preferably one with pockets for your stuff, and a hood in case the rainfall is heavy.
- A dry bag - need to make sure your essentials stay dry! (For a cheap DIY alternative, use a ziplock back for your electronics).
- Warm clothes, as sometimes rainy places can be quite cold at night.
- Shoes that are not too slippery when wet.
- A travel umbrella.
So be it sun or shine, as the scouts say... 'Be prepared'
Stay dry out there! Be safe!
